Alternatives for Parents with Babies Who Have Respiratory and Skin Problems- Organic is Best
Wednesday, November 28th, 2012Chemicals in the air we breathe have a tendency to irritate babies who already suffer from respiratory problems. Believe it or not clothing can contain toxins that you cannot see or smell, yet may still cause a problem for babies with bad lungs. Toxins are used to treat fabric, both during the time the fabric is being made and after it hits the factories to be assembled. Believe it or not these chemicals can cause problems to tiny lungs. This of course only one reason organic baby clothing is a better choice. There are many other reasons to use all natural clothing for your baby.
Eating Healthier Choices
Babies need to eat a sensible diet and usually that doesn’t call for poisons. If you read the labels on most commercially sold baby food you will probably become horrified at the amount of chemical preservatives in the products. These days many parents are becoming wise about what they feed their babies and even making their own baby food. If you use 100% organic vegetables and farm raised cattle and poultry that hasn’t been injected with all sorts of undesirable things, you will be doing your baby a huge favour.
Keep Your Air Clean
Babies with respiratory problems often need humidifiers or air purifiers. If you smoke cigarettes do go outside to smoke. Although you may want to keep in mind that you are toxic to other people for as long as 30 minutes after having a smoke. For this reason you may want to quit altogether. If you are going to smoke, again organically grown tobacco is the best choice. Just like dressing you baby in organic clothes can go a long way, so can switching a lot of the stuff you use to organic.
Keep an Eye on Other Fabrics
Be careful not to overlook the bed sheets and towels you use for your baby. Many times people focus on organic when it comes to clothing for babies and they forget that all those other things touch skin too. Always try to find organic materials for all other fabrics baby will be exposed to as well. Remember, read labels and be sure what you are getting is authentic organic fabric that has never been treated by anything that could cause an allergic reaction or problem for your baby. This is one of the best ways to protect your child.
